Rachel Anne Griffiths is an Australian actress and director and has been working in the industry since 1992. She got famous for her performances in Muriel\u2019s Wedding<\/em> (1994) and Hilary and Jackie<\/em> (1998).<\/p>\n Rachel Griffiths was born (18 December, 1968) in Melbourne, Victoria, a daughter of Anna and Edward Martin Griffiths. Her mother was a teacher and education consultant. She lived her early year in Gold Coast, moved to Melbourne at 5 and went to Stars of the Sea College in Gardenvale to complete high school. She attended Victoria College, Rusden and earned a degree as Bachelor of Education in Drama and Dance. After college, she joined Woolly Jumpers, a theatre company based in Geelong.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Rachel Griffiths proved her prowess in the movie Muriel\u2019s Wedding<\/em> which got her awards in Australian and a role in 1996 movie Jude<\/em>. She starred in My Best Friend\u2019s Wedding<\/em> (1997), My Son the Fanatic<\/em> and in 1998, she earned an Academy Award nomination for her role as Hilary du Pre in Hilary and Jackie<\/em>. She acted in Blow<\/em> (2001) and a TV series Six Feet Under<\/em> which earned her Golden Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. She was a part of dramatic series, Brothers and Sisters<\/em> (2006). She received Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for her performance in this series. In 2011, Griffiths made her Broadway debut in Other Desert Cities<\/em>.<\/p>\n
