Swatch is a Swiss watchmaker established in 1983 by Nicolas Hayek and is a backup of The Swatch Group. The product was created as a reaction to the “quartz crisis” of the 1980s, in which Asian-made computerised watches were going up against customary European-made mechanical watches.

“Swatch” started advancement in the mid-1980s, under the authority of the then ETA SA’s CEO, Ernst Thomke with a little group of watch architects driven by Elmar Mock and Jacques Müller. The first collection of twelve Swatch models was presented on 1 March 1983 in Zürich, Switzerland. At first, the cost ran from CHF 39.90 to CHF 49.90 which was standardised to CHF 50.00 in fall of that year.

Lebanese business visionary, Nicolas G. Hayek, with a group of Swiss speculators, assumed control over a greater part shareholding of Swatch amid 1985 under the name Societe Suisse de Microelectronique et d’Horlogerie, or SMH. All the watches which are sold by Swatch comes with a warranty provided by Swatch Ltd for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase.

The warranty, however, does not cover the life of the battery, normal wear and tear, any kind of damage caused by abusive use, lack of care, accidents, etc. The contact details of Swatch are shared in this article.
