Imparja Television is a television services network established in Australia\u2019s remote eastern and central Australia. Imparja was the first Aboriginal member of Federation of Australian Commercial Television Stations.<\/p>\n
Imparja means footprints in Arrernte. It was founded on 2 January 1988, owned by Imparja Television Pty Ltd and affiliates to Nine Network. It provides free to view transmission to its viewers. This network is headquartered in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. This company was created by Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association in 1986 providing radio services in local languages which convinced Government of Northern Territory to offer of $2million. South Australian Government offered loan and subsequently, federal, state and political governments were pitted against each other. Eventually CAAMA got the license from Australian Broadcasting Tribunal.<\/p>\n
During its span Imparja launched many channels, won awards. In 1990, it launched Imparja Local News whose studio was based in Alice Springs. In 93\u2019, audience has doubled. In 1997, it became proprietary company and satellite transmissions were moved.<\/p>\n
