Sky News is an Australian National cable and satellite media channel broadcasting news from over 20 years in more than 2.5 million homes in Australia and is also available in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Sky News was launched on 19 February, 1996 as Sky News Live, changed its name to Sky News National in 2015. Australian News Channel Pty Ltd is its parent company. It is owned by three companies, namely Sky News UK, Seven West Media and Nine Entertainment Co. each with 33% share and 0.4 is the audience share. During this time, Sky News launched its four sister channels during its span till now. Sky News Active, an on-demand interactive TV news service in 2004, Sky News Business Channel in 2008. Sky News Public Affairs Channel in 2009 and Sky News Election Channel in 2016 were launched.<\/p>\n

Since its launch Sky News has been an essential part of media industry. Every hour news on sports, politics, education, worldwide news, technology, lifestyle, weather and culture etc. is broadcasted. Australian News Channel Pty Ltd being its parent company, is also a proud partner of CASBAA and ASTRA. Sky News is available on Foxtel, Optus Television, Austar and Neighborhood Cable subscriptions in Australia. It charges nothing to viewers watching it on Foxtel and Optus Television. In New Zealand, it\u2019s available on Sky Television and Vodafone.<\/p>\n

Sky News Channel\u2019s bureaus are located in every capital of Australia and Wellington is only foreign bureau opened in 2015. Its headquarters are in Macquarie Park, Sydney. It has a bureau in Canberra, in Parliament house since 2000.<\/p>\n

In 2016, its average viewers count was 96,000 during federal elections. Sky News Channel was watched by more than 7, 00,000 viewers in 2015 and was mostly watched during talk shows with politicians. In 2016, the channel entered into controversy with Malcolm Turnbull with Turnbull calling audience of Sky News Channel \u2018too small\u2019.<\/p>\n

It began broadcasting in HD in December, 2015. This channel has won many national and international awards for news channel shows, coverage, outstanding journalism and business news.<\/p>\n
