Julie Maree Collins is an Australian Politician born on 3 July 1971 in Hobart, Tasmania. She represents Australian Labor Party since 2007 in Australian House of Representatives for Franklin.<\/p>\n

Collins handled Secretary\u2019s post for Tasmanian Labor Party in 2006 and 2007. She elected for the seat of Denison in 2006 but lost. She wasn\u2019t born in a financially strong family. She, therefore, entered the politics to improve the quality of people\u2019s lives. She believes decent health services and education is every human\u2019s basic right. She has worked for bringing down the barrier to make services available to everyone.<\/p>\n

Collins retained a seat in 2010 elections. In Gillard\u2019s Government, she was made Parliamentary Secretary for Community Services and with this in 2011:<\/p>\n

  1. Minister for Community Services.<\/li>\n
  2. Minister for Indigenous Employment and Economic Development.<\/li>\n
  3. And Minister for the Status of Women.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Additional responsibilities were given to Collins including the Ministry for Housing and Homelessness. In Rudd\u2019s Government, she was promoted to the Cabinet. In 2013, Rudd\u2019s Ministry lost the elections and Abbott\u2019s won. Then Collins was appointed as Shadow Minister for Regional Development, Employment Services and Local Government.<\/p>\n

    Her husband\u2019s name is Ian Hubbard and has 3 children. They live on the Eastern Shore. Since 2001, she is the first Tasmanian Cabinet Minister.<\/p>\n
