Richard Lewis Springthorpe popularly known as Rick Springfield is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, actor and author by profession. Rick was born on 23rd August 1949 in New South Wales, Australia. His father Norman James Springthorpe is an Australian Army career officer. At the age of 13, he learned guitar and later joined various bands in England where his father was stationed from 1958 to 1963. In 1968, Rick was approached by Pete Watson (bass guitarist) to join his group Rockhouse. He then joined several bands and performed at various places. Rick started his solo career with “Speak to the Sky” which was among the top 10 Australia single in mid-1972. Rick received the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for “Jessie’s Girl” which was No. 1 hit in U.S. and Australia. Don’t Talk to Strangers, I’ve Done Everything for You, Affair of the Heart and Love Somebody is some of the other singles of Rick who made into top 10 U.S. hits. Working Class Dog and Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet are the U.S. top 10 albums of Springfield. The actor made his acting debut with 1977 released The Six Million Dollar Man.
