  3. Hi Maggie,
My niece is Wendy Lacey and I have told her about my mothers aged care home. I want to tell you a good news story – if one place can do it so can others. I know your interest in aged care and good food. I wanted to tell you that my 90 year old mother is in Abbey Gardens Aged Care, 15 Tarwin St., Warragul Vic. It is an absolutely fabulous nursing home. My mother, in the past, was very critical of poor food so I was worried when she went in as to what might happen. She always cooked excellent meals for herself until the 6 months prior to going to AG. She loves the food and I often visit at meal times. The quality and range is excellent. Lunch is 2 choices but a resident can ask for something different as needs.
She chooses her breakfast and also where she wants to eat it, so hot milk milo and one slice of toast except Tuesdays when she has bacon and eggs!
Tea, coffee and biscuits always available but morning tea and afternoon tea always brought around with a choice of cake or slice etc.
If she wanted a snack at midnight she could have it. Fresh fruit always available. She is very happy with this and as you can imagine also reflects the level of care in other ways. Excellent recreational program and events and certainly made to feel like home. Café, theatre and hairdresser etc on site and various religions catered for.
Just thought it is a good news story that you might like to know about.
I applaud your efforts in nutrition especially in the aged care sector. So important.
    Many thanks, Denise Lacey
