You have to be on hold for at least 45min and then nobody will answer you.

I have spent about 4 hours on this. The staff keep asking us to do the same thing and then say they will ring us back and then do not. Have found this exert from ABC iview, “Technical Change – SHA-1 support disabled from 27th Dec 2016
The ABC has recently been advised by one of its technology providers of a planned change which may affect iview on some older smart TV devices.

What is the change?

The ABC has recently been advised by one of its technology providers of a planned change which may affect iview on some older smart TV devices.

What is SHA-1?

SHA-1 is a security technology used in the delivery of content across the internet. More specifically it’s a cryptographic hash function that may be part of the certificate exchange when setting up an HTTPS session. ABC iview uses HTTPS for delivery of content feeds and video streams.

Why is this happening?

Due to security issues identified with SHA-1 and the imperative to maintain security of encrypted content on the internet, all major browser makers agreed to stop supporting SHA-1 by 2017.

What is the impact on ABC iview?

There is a risk that this change will cause problems for older consumer devices, especially smart TVs with very old browsers that have not been updated by manufacturers. This is most likely to manifest in problems loading the application or in attempting to play back video content.

The ABC is in communication with TV device manufacturers hardware partners on this change, and some are attempting to identify exactly which devices may be affected. Due to the timing and nature of the update, we are unable to test the change prior to 27th December, and the full extent of the impact is not entirely clear until after then. Our records indicate that a small number of requests are using SHA-1, but it’s not clear which devices these are or whether they may be affected by the change.

What happens if my device is affected?

Unfortunately, if this security change impacts your device, this will be outside the ABC’s control to fix. So the ABC may be forced to retire iview support for affected platforms or devices.”

I believe this is the problem. There seems no way to sort this out except to e-mail as ringing you keep getting different people saying the same thing- Can someone get back to us.

On the second we were told that we would be put straight through to an agent. We have now waited a further half an hour, and we haven’t been put through.
This company has the worst customer service. I will not buy a product from them again, due to their total lack of care

This is the second L.G. flat screen that has failed on me the other was a 55 inch. I believe even though this set was well out of warranty I would expect its life span to be well in excess of just under 5 years. Now it was always my intention to get a second set which I have done but that is now the only set. I would like to know if you would have this set repaired at your cost so that I can continue to support the L.G. brand.
Cheers Greg
