Claire Hooper, a popular Australian stand-up comedian and writer, was born on born 5 September 1976. She went to Curtin University and graduated with a degree in Theatre Studies. She is married to Wade & has a daughter.
She started working as an actress & director in children’s and adult theatre in Perth and has written, directed and costumed professionally for many youth theatre productions. She went on to win the Western Australian finals of Triple J’s Raw Comedy in 2004 & got selected to perform in “The Comedy Zone” for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2005.
During the same year, she was awarded the “Best and Fairest” at the National Improvisation Championships in Sydney. She did an an-hour show named ‘Oh!’ where she communicated only through recorded audio, videos, handwritten signs, breakdancing and mime which was well received by the audience & earned her a nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for the “Best Newcomer” award. In addition to the live comedy shows, Hooper has made numerous appearances on Australian radio and television since 2005.
